Worship Songs for When You’re Struggling
The blurb at the bottom of this post contains affiliate links to help keep this blog running.
This morning I went for a run. Getting outside to run is a way I meet with God, it’s a place to pour my heart out to Him. Sometimes angry feet hit the ground, other times running is a way to remind myself to persevere through whatever other difficult circumstances I find myself in. Life seems to have an endless opportunity for difficulty. Infertility. Financial or job difficulty. Emotional exhaustion. Relational struggles. Big decisions ahead. Those are just a few of the things I’ve prayed about while running throughout the years.
I turned on a Pandora station this morning and the first 3 songs were just right for me, as a woman waiting and wondering how God will answer my prayers.
I’ll Give Thanks by Housefires has some great lyrics. Here are a few:
So I’ll give thanks to God
When I don’t have enough
‘Cause He’s more than enough
And He knows what I needIn the silence, I choose to believe
You’re working in the waitingGod’s not worried – so why do I worry?
Listen to I’ll Give Thanks here.
Counting Every Blessing by Rend Collective reminds me that God is good toward me, even in the barren seasons.
I am counting every blessing
Counting every blessing
Surely every season
You are good to me
Listen to Counting Every Blessing here.
Won’t Stop Now by Elevation Worship is a song to stir up our faith, reminding ourselves that God is always with us, and that His grace is always enough.
I give you glory
For all you’ve brought me through
And now I’m ready
For whatever you wanna doIn every season
Your grace has been enough
And I’m believing
The best is yet to come
Listen to Won’t Stop Now here.
Lean Back by Capital City Music didn’t come up on my playlist this morning while I ran, but it did pop up onto YouTube tonight while I typed this post. It’s a song that I’ve loved for the past couple of years, it’s one I turn to when I need peace, when I need to settle myself by faith into the loving arms of my Father God. This one will help settle your heart as you “breathe deep and know that He is good.” Listen to Lean Back here.
