My Infertility Bookshelf

Social media blew up with Marie Kondo inspired organization this January, and though I didn’t follow the latest recommendations, I worked hard to get my home in order (after moving to a new home a few months before). I did not pare down my bookshelf to 30 books as the author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up supposedly recommends (okay, I only know that from the memes), but I got rid of some books and organized the rest.

Today I figured I’d show you what’s on my infertility bookshelf, and soon I’ll share my virtual infertility bookshelf. Some of these book mentions include a blog post, if I’ve reviewed the book. Most of these books are available on Amazon.

Loved Baby – If you’ve experienced a miscarriage or loss of a baby, this is for you. If you have a friend who has experienced a loss, and you don’t know what to do or say, acknowledge their grief, and give them a copy of this devotional. Go to the author’s website to find the book as well as related gifts for those experiencing loss: allamericanmom.net/

Praying for Your Unborn Child – This book isn’t infertility-focused, but it is a tool to pray for your child before conception and in the earliest moments of his or her life. (Here you can read my blog post about praying for babies in the womb.) I heard Judith MacNutt speak several years ago and am glad a friend gave me her book. You can find it on Amazon.

In Due Time – I really enjoyed this story, and here’s the review I wrote not long after reading it: www.hopeduringinfertility.com/in-due-time-infertility-books/

Morning Will Come – This was one of the first infertility/loss books that came my way during our infertility journey. To be completely honest, I only read part of it since the focus was more on loss – but you might want to check it out. Here’s the Amazon link.

When Infertility Books Are Not Enough: Embracing Hope During Infertility – This is a personal favorite because I wrote it! 😉 Here I share my personal story as well as my reflections on having hope while waiting or a baby. I wrote it several years after we began trying to conceive, and published it years before our baby was born. Here’s a link to get a copy – on Kindle or paperback.

Far As the Curse is Found – I wrote a review of this book a few years ago, so take a moment to read it. Fun fact: I’ve gotten to hang out with the author several times after meeting her at her book release party. (And then we had babies the same month – thanks, God!) Find the book here: www.abigailwaldron.com/book/

In Due Time – This devotional has impacted many women. Here’s my review from when the book was hot off the press: www.hopeduringinfertility.com/in-due-time-devo-infertility-books/.

Barren Among the Fruitful – I’ve heard readers ask, “Where are the books that don’t have a happy ending? What about the women who never become moms?” This woman’s journey is likely one you can relate to, and a book you might want to read. Find it on Amazon.

Hannah’s Hope: Seeking God’s Heart in the Midst of Infertility, Miscarriage, and Adoption Loss – This one is a classic recommendation, and I got my hands on a copy toward the end of our journey, so I actually haven’t read it yet. Let me know if I should bump it up my reading list. Go check out the author’s website and blog: jennifersaake.com/

The Holy Bible – This one is the foundation for getting through any difficulty in life. This is the reason we made it through our own infertility struggle. You might be surprised how often this book mentions infertility or barrenness. Read a paper copy, read it on the Bible app – you won’t regret spending time in the Word of God.

All of the reviews I’ve written on infertility books can be found here. Check back soon for a glimpse at the infertility books I have on my Kindle.
