My Digital Infertility Bookshelf
Last week I shared a list of the infertility books sitting on my bookshelf. Today I want to share some recommendations from the books you can find on my Kindle! And to be totally honest, I have a lot of books on my Kindle, so I dug out all of the infertility books I could find, but there might be more. Many of these were some of my first finds when looking for infertility books back in 2014. Take a moment to check out this list (and these are not affiliate links – simply books I’m glad I came across).
Nothing to Hold but Hope: One woman’s journey through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infertility by Jennifer Kostick – This was such a helpful story to read during my wait. I intended to write a proper review, but haven’t yet done so. I still hope to re-read it and share a review! One impression this book made on me was that she clearly sensed God was telling her to try IVF. Since IVF can be such a debatable topic in the Christian community, I really appreciated reading her story.
How My Soul Yearns: How God Brought Me Through Infertility and Beyond by Ashley Wells – This book and another penned by this author greatly inspired me as I made the decision to become and independent author. It was one of the first infertility books I read, and I am thankful for it!
Preparing for IVF: Approach Your IVF with Confidence and Courage by Lisa Newton – I’m a big fan of Lisa’s blog Amateur Nester, and this is her second book. Her first book 31 Days of Prayer During Infertility is also one to definitely check out! Preparing for IVF is an overview that anyone can find helpful as they make decisions and prepare for the process.
When God Doesn’t Fix It: Lessons You Never Wanted to Learn, Truths You Can’t Live Without by Laura Story – It’s more than an infertility book, but that’s definitely part of her story. God has since expanded her family. Go read this book by this singer/songwriter/author. Here’s a review I wrote several years ago: www.hopeduringinfertility.com/when-god-doesnt-fix-it-infertility-books/.
Every Drunken Cheerleader… Why Not Me? by Kristine Watts – She should win a prize for her catchy title! To be honest, I read this book a long time ago, and nothing stands out to me at the moment. However, it continues to rank highly on Amazon, so you might love it!
Every Bitter Thing is Sweet: Tasting the Goodness of God in All Things by Sara Hagerty is one you’ll find on many women’s bookshelves. Here’s the review I wrote a few years ago: www.hopeduringinfertility.com/infertility-books-every-bitter-thing/.
The Infertility Companion: Help and Hope for Couples Facing Infertility by Sandra Glahn and William Cutrer is one I picked up long ago, and it has a strong focus on biblical and medical perspectives.
I Will Carry You by Angie Smith – since it’s been so long since I read this book, I want to share the Amazon blurb and recommend this book to anyone who has been given a devastating diagnosis about a baby in the womb. Here’s what Amazon says: “In 2008, Angie Smith and her husband Todd learned through ultrasound that their fourth daughter had conditions making her ‘incompatible with life.’ Advised to terminate the pregnancy, the Smiths chose instead to carry this child and allow room for a miracle. That miracle came the day they met Audrey Caroline and got the chance to love her for the precious two-and-a-half hours she lived on earth.” I cried my way through this book, but I definitely recommend it!
Thanks for reading!
