“It is well with my soul.”

I love these words. I love that the old hymn thrives and that variations of the song constantly run through my heart and my head.

“It is well with my soul.”

The original hymn was penned by a grieving father, whose only son died in a fire, and shortly afterward his four daughters all died at sea. In his heartbreak and in his loss, Horatio Spafford was able to trust God and proclaim that “it is well with my soul.”

Kristene DiMarco recorded a variation to the song, called “It is Well.” I love to sing it! “Let go my soul, and trust in Him…”

Lauren Daigle sings another variation of “It is Well” and it often gets stuck in my head. “It is well, it is well, through the storm I am held.”

Let these words speak to your heart today, but more importantly, let these be your words to God, over and over and over again, in your loss, in your lack, in your infertility, in your financial hardships, in your broken dreams, in your lost hopes, do whatever you can to get to a place where you can honestly say to God that it is well. That’s a good place to be.
