This is How We’re Going to Become Parents
When you publicly share that you’ve been trying to start your family for nearly 6 years, you get all sorts of feedback and unsolicited advice. In Due Time blogger Caroline published a post several months ago that so beautifully said:
“We will have a baby not because of something we do in the natural, but because of God working in the supernatural. Our babies will be a precious gift through His grace and love.” (Read Caroline’s post here.)
Friends, family, social media… I couldn’t agree with that more (and I will be celebrating Caroline’s babies when they come!)
Yes, I recently had surgery to remove excess growths that might be hindering pregnancy. But when I do become pregnant, credit will not go to my doctor, it will go to the Creator of Life and we will celebrate because He says “it’s time.”
Pregnancy won’t happen because of my nutritional choices and pre-natal vitamins that I’ve been taking for SIX years.
It’s not because of the infertility books or blogs that I read.
I won’t get pregnant because I’ve tried over-the-counter fertility aids or prescription medications..
Or because we pondered adoption.
Not because of any message I’ve shared in my writing.
I won’t get pregnant because we’re getting older.
It’s not even about people encouraging us or praying for us.
Pregnancy will not occur because I have achieved some milestone of faith.
It’s not even going to be about perfectly timed intimacy with my husband.
There is nothing I can do to make a pregnancy happen.
Mike and I will only become parents because God determines that IT’S TIME and He says “I’ve created a new life, and you get to steward it!”
I hope that it’s one day soon – and there will be some cheering! But it will be God’s doing, not ours. He’s the one writing our story, and He’s the one who will get all the glory.
