Favorite Infertility Books
Countless times I’ve walked out of the library with an armful of books pertaining to fertility – books telling me how to get pregnant, about the best fertility foods, and people’s stories of trying to get pregnant. I’ve read several of these books on my Kindle. Let me tell you about my favorites – the most influential and inspirational.
The Impatient Woman’s Guide to Getting Pregnant by Jean M. Twenge Ph.D. – Of all the fertility books I have read, this one is the most straightforward, concise, and interesting. She gives a very helpful overview of infertility, including what our options are. I appreciate her lighthearted humor and her focus on natural ways to boost fertility. If I were to recommend one starting point for books on this topic, this is it!
How My Soul Yearns: How God Brought Me Through Infertility and Beyond by Ashley Wells – This quick read offers an excellent perspective of hope from a young woman who was told by doctors that she would never be able to conceive outside of God’s intervention. I appreciated her perspective of remaining optimistic in her faith that God is in control. She has since written a book about how she and her husband were blessed to adopt a sibling group of four young children.
Finding Grace: A True Story About Losing Your Way In Life…And Finding It Again by Donna VanLiere – I absolutely loved this book. Donna shared her story of many personal challenges, including infertility. Picking this book up at the library one day was my first introduction to this author – and I have since enjoyed her heart-warming fiction books.
Longing Heart; Empty Arms by Sally M. Jones – I happened to learn about this book through a Facebook comment from the author. This is a work of fiction – telling the story of two friends going through infertility. One thing that the author does very well is portray the emotions and social and family interactions of these women – demonstrating what a struggle it can be.
Have you read it? The story of my infertility journey is called Embracing Hope During Infertility – available on Amazon as a paperback or Kindle book.
