DC Walk of Hope 2016 (Resolve National Infertility Association)

For the past two years, Mike and I have attended the DC Walk of Hope, hosted by Resolve, the National Infertility Association. To be honest, I approach the day of the walk with a bit of dread – because the infertility community is a club I wish I didn’t qualify for. None of us want to be there! Everyone who admits that they’re struggling to conceive is not happy about it, including me. Especially me.

However, we’ve attended this event twice, and both times I’ve gone home feeling very grateful to have participated. I’ll share a few highlights of my day.

Below is a picture of my husband and me walking. 🙂 Actually, this photo was from last summer (it was much colder this year). But it’s such a great photo that I grabbed it from the walk’s website.

When I arrived at National Harbor and found the crowd gathering, I became choked up and teary-eyed, simply because I see a crowd of people who know my struggle, and I see all these babies, which reminds me that there is hope for me too!

Prior to the walk I checked out the various tables, where there were snacks, representatives from local fertility clinics (Shady Grove Fertility and Dominion Fertility), a silent auction, and a few other things. Check out the mountain of free pregnancy tests!

Yes, pregnancy tests and chocolate are a great combo for giveaways to those dealing with infertility!

As we walked, I had good conversations with my husband and with fellow fertility warriors. We walked right behind a cluster of people wearing shirts saying “The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens. Don’t give up!” That was a good message to ponder as we walked.

And each year there are babies wearing inspiring shirts, like this one. (I want one of these when I have a baby one day!) Your baby and mine are both “worth the wait!”
