One Baby Announcement After Another
Do other women trying to conceive for a long time think up endless ways to announce a pregnancy?
I know that I have thought up many scenarios for my dream pregnancy announcement.
Family gatherings. Reunions. Girls weekends with friends. Announcing that a baby is coming just in time for my birthday. Thanksgiving’s “guess what I’m thankful for?” Wrapping the announcement in a Christmas package. Mother’s Day. Father’s Day. The list goes on.
For 7 years, month after month, I’ve thought that “this would be the perfect time to make a pregnancy announcement.”
So far, there hasn’t been a pregnancy to announce.
I wouldn’t have written my life’s story like this, but I trust the Author who has it all figured out. He knows the details. He knows the perfect timing, and He’ll get me there. I believe that one day my husband and I will have a baby announcement to make. We will have an opportunity to tell loved ones about a baby on the way. I hope that I’m not so excited that I blurt out the news without a dramatic announcement.
So here’s what I’ve done, as a step of faith that one day I’m going to need it.
I’ve written a list.
I have a notebook, and within that notebook is a handwritten list of family members, friends, and prayer warriors who I can’t wait to tell about our baby-to-be.
If you’re praying for a baby, have you made a list? Go ahead and write down the names of who you want to tell first. Who do you want to be sure tell in person? If you have creative ideas for how to announce, go ahead and jot them down too. Keep asking God for a miracle baby, ask Him for answered prayers. He is faithful, He is able, and your story is not over yet.
I’m hoping for the day when I won’t be the recipient of one baby announcement after another – I dream of the day when I can share my own announcement, one after another.

I have so been there, Betsy! Especially in this day and age, big reveals are all the rage and there are a million different ways to make the announcement. Love that you trust the Author of your story. No doubt He has great plans for you; I pray this certainty will help you hold on to hope in your wait!
Beautifully written Betsy! Yes you are called to touch everyone who reads your writing. Your heartfelt account of longing and stepping out in faith is inspiring.
I feel you! I have also planned out an announcement based on every holiday, special occasion, and every day life event. Can’t really help but dream. I like the idea of writing it down and making a list of who you would tell – kinda reminds me of keeping a hope chest. Thank you for the encouragement, friend! And praying for your hopeful announcement.
Thank you, Clare!
Thank you, Sarah! I appreciate the encouragement.
Oh yes! Praying for you as well!
