Hope Story: Anna “Letting Myself Hope”
Something that keeps me moving forward in this seemingly impossible attempt to conceive a baby is when I hear about a baby born to someone who once thought it could never happen. Sometimes these blessings come through adoption, and many times these babies are born to women who once thought it would be impossible. When I hear these stories, I am reminded that God is able!
Several years ago I carpooled to a baby shower with Anna, a young woman who I knew from church. During our car ride I’m sure I said something like, “We’ve been trying to have kids, but no success yet.” She said something like, “We don’t think we’ll have kids.” We didn’t discuss it any further, and then I moved to another state, and we only saw each other on Facebook.
Then one day, Facebook told me that this chick was pregnant! What?! I mentioned it to a mutual friend who said, “You need to ask her for her story.” So (nosy me) – I did.
It turns out that Anna had dealt with some health issues that led her to believe that she could never bear children. A few years ago she made changes regarding food and weight, and then she began having regular menstrual cycles. Then, on the day of her first appointment with a fertility specialist, she discovered that she was pregnant!
Earlier this year, a little boy was born to that mama, and she wrote this Facebook post on Mother’s Day:
“I never let myself dream about being a mom because I didn’t think it could happen. But three years ago I found myself almost sobbing on Mother’s Day and knew that I had to at least try. Letting myself hope was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but now I have one of the best blessings of my life! So, thank you to Matthias, my miracle baby, for making me a mom!”
When someone I know personally gives birth to a miracle baby, my faith is boosted. If God can do it for her, I believe that He can do it for me.
