A Personal Update {Stillbirth}

Hello friends, readers, blog followers,

Many of you might have seen this already on social media, but I wanted to share some difficult news with you.

Many people have shared in our joy this year as we had announced we were expecting a baby in January 2021. This week we share our grief. At 34 weeks pregnant, I didn’t feel our baby moving. I went to the hospital and they informed me that our baby’s heart had stopped and he had passed away.
On Saturday, 12/12, our baby boy Noah was born straight into the arms of Jesus. The most likely the cause of death was due to an umbilical cord accident.
We are grieving, but we truly grieve with hope. God has covered us immensely in His peace and His presence. The name Noah means “peace and rest” which is the declaration over our lives right now. God’s grace has been so, so sufficient, and we are really going to be okay.
As we grieve, we are still confident that God is good to us every single day. Just weeks ago I published a book called Beauty in Barren Places: Seeing God’s Goodness Here and Now. I want others to read it, but as we have experienced our baby boy’s death and birth, this book has been speaking to me. Several years ago I wrote a children’s book that repeatedly says, “God is good, all of the time, in all seasons of life, He’ll never change.” My husband and I are fully convinced of this truth: God has still been good to us this week.
We truly believe that the only hope in this world is Jesus, and as I have been awake throughout the nights this week, I have been fully convinced that God loves us, He’s good to us, and at the end of the day, He is what matters.
